As the UX/UI Design Intern at Diverse Dreams AI, I worked closely with the founders to design a playful, accessible, and inclusive storytelling platform for children. While I wasn’t directly involved in user research or testing, the founders conducted these activities and shared their insights with me. I iterated on designs based on this ongoing feedback and helped bring the product vision to life through high-fidelity interfaces.
Figma: UI design and prototyping
Adobe Illustrator: Custom visual assets and illustrations
Using Figma, I created interactive prototypes of both desktop and mobile versions, ensuring responsive behavior and ease of use.
Although I did not conduct the user testing directly, I received ongoing feedback from the company founders based on their sessions with children and parents. This feedback led to iterative improvements, such as:
Making navigation buttons larger and more colorful
Improving loading speeds for the character builder
Adding helpful tooltips and clearer icons
To design an AI-powered storytelling platform that allows children to create and read personalized stories featuring diverse, representative characters.
While working with the founders of Diverse Dreams AI, we identified an opportunity rather than a problem: there was no existing product yet, but a strong vision—to build an AI-powered storytelling app where children could create diverse characters and generate personalized stories.
The challenge was to translate this early-stage idea into an engaging, inclusive, and intuitive product that appeals to young users and their guardians. From defining the product’s identity to visualizing user flows, everything needed to be built from the ground up.
Rather than conducting direct user interviews, I received continuous insights and consolidated feedback from the company founders, who engaged with parents and young users during testing phases. These insights guided all of my design decisions.
To better understand the market and identify effective features, I analyzed a range of similar platforms:
Sprinkle – Simplified, intuitive UX with emphasis on personalization
Imajinn – Offers AI-generated visual storytelling
StoryWizard.ai – Kid-friendly layout and engaging character prompts
Oscar Stories – Clean, character-first storytelling approach
Once Upon a Bot – Creative story generation via minimalistic UI
Minibooks.ai – Focused on quick, fun, and colorful storytelling
Key takeaways included:
Importance of intuitive navigation for kids
Strong visual engagement using characters and colors
Need for playful interactivity and meaningful personalization
Primary Users: Children
Secondary Users: Parents (as supervisors or co-users)
Home → Create Character → Generate Story → Read & Save

I used Playpen Sans, a rounded, child-friendly, and easily readable font that matched the playful and imaginative spirit of the app.
Diverse options for skin tones, facial features, body types, hairstyles, and accessories
Focused on representation and inclusivity
Illustrated in a friendly and approachable art style
Simple steps with large, clear buttons
AI-generated stories using user-customized characters
Language and theme selection for personalized storytelling
Story progress tracking
Favorites and history
Time control for responsible screen use

Diverse Dreams AI became a vibrant, inclusive platform that allows children to create meaningful stories where they can truly see themselves represented. The final design aligned with business goals and received positive responses from stakeholders and early users.
Designing for children requires empathy, simplicity, and attention to accessibility
Working with feedback from non-design stakeholders strengthened my ability to translate abstract needs into clear UI solutions
Inclusivity is not just a visual choice—it's an emotional one that impacts user experience deeply.
